Santorum Stands By His Man

Senator Santorum released the following statement in regards to his now outted Communications Director:
Robert Traynham ... is widely respected and admired on Capitol Hill, both among the press corps and among the congressional staff, as a communications professional. Not only is Mr. Traynham an exemplary staffer, but he is also a trusted friend confidente to me and my family. Mr. Traynham is a valued member of my staff and I regret that this effort on behalf of people who oppose me has made him a target of bigotry in their eyes.

It is entirely unacceptable that my staffs' personal lives are considered fair game by partisans looking for arguments to bolster my opponent's campaign. Mr. Traynham continues to have my full support and confidence as well as my prayers as he navigates this rude and mean spirited invasion of his personal life.

First Mr. Santorum, you are the bigot. You are the one who made Mr. Traynham's sexuality fair game through your anti-gay and disturbing pronouncements about gay Americans like Mr. Traynham. And Mr. Traynham is no innocent soul either, as he turned his back on his community and helped you craft your vicious anti-gay rhetoric as your Director of Communications.

Mr. Santorum, both you and Mr. Traynham represent the filth in America that needs to be disposed of immediately. We will never be the United States as long as you and Mr. Traynham continue your slash-and-burn politics of division.

I support Mr. Traynham's decision to come-out and admit who he truly is. But I can never forgive him for the hatred he has displayed towards his fellow man.

He deserves a spit in the face from the gay community more than he does a warm embrace.
